Rammus, The Jungle Armordillo Guide

Hello summoners! It's time for another guide. It's that guy you want in your team and the enemy team fears and banns. It's Armordillo time !
Rammus is a very powerful tank (maybe the strongest, at least against autoattack heroes), a tank that can also deal some massive damage through his passive skill. This skill, called Spiked Shell, converts 25% of his armor into attack damage. His skills are meant to drive mad the best AD champs in the League of Legends. Combining Taunt and Defensive Ball Curl makes even Tryndamere and Master Yi burst in tears and go back to base. So lets get down to business.

Base Stats:

Damage55.3(+3.5 / level)
Health420(+86 / level)
Mana255(+33 / level)
Move Speed310
Armor21(+3.8 / level)
Spell Block30(+0 / level)
Health Regen1(+0.11 / level)
Mana Regen1.4(+0.1 / level)

Masteries: 0-21-9

For Rammus I use the classic 21 defense, spending points on the main bonuses like extra armor, magic resist, hp and hp regen (as you can see in the picture). I take Summoner's Resolve mainly for that extra 10 gold on Smite use. In offense tree, the most important boost i can get with 9 points is Swiftness, which will help you move even faster.

Summoner Spells
The best choice in my opinion for a jungle Rammus is Smite + Ghost. Sadly you wont have improved Ghost (35% movement speed), but it will be just fine like that. Take into consideration that you will have Boost of Swiftness (enhanced movement 3) and the extra movement from masteries (Initiator and Swiftness).

A second choice would be Smite + Heal. These choices will be both improved, Smite getting 10 extra gold on use and Heal 10% buff.

Runes Choice

Classic tank runes: 3x Greater Quintessence of Fortitude (78 flat HP), 9x Greater Mark of Warding (8.7 magic resist), 9x Greater Seal of Vitality (175 HP at lvl 18) and 9x Greater Glyph of Shielding (24 magic resist at lvl 18).

Skills:
Powerball (Q). Rammus accelerates in a ball towards his enemies, dealing 100/150/200/250/300 (+1) magic damage to nearby enemies on impact and slows them by 20/25/30/35/40% for 3 seconds. Casting Defensive Ball Curl will remove the effect.
Cost: 80/90/100/110/120 mana
Range: 300
*Powerball will hit the first enemy it encounters, so watch out for creeps getting in your way.
Defensive Ball Curl (W). Rammus increases his armor and magic resist by 50/75/100/125/150 for 6 seconds. Also returnes 20/30/40/50/60 (+10% of Armor) magic damage to attackers.
Activating Power Ball will remove this effect.
Cost: 50 mana
Range: 300.
Puncturing Taunt (E). Rammus forces an enemy to attack him for 1/1.5/2/2.5/3 second(s), reducing his armor by 10/15/20/25/30.
Cost:  50/60/70/80/90 mana
Range: 325.
Tremors (R). Rammus creates a mini-earthquake, causing 50/60/70/80/90 magic damage to units and structures near him, for 8 seconds.
Cost: 120 mana
Range: 300.
Spiked Shell. Rammus converts 25% of his Armor into attack damage.

Skill order:
As a jungler, you will need Defensive Ball Curl at level 1. Until level 5 you should have 2 levels in W and 2 levels in E. At level 5 get Powerball, and of course Tremors at level 6, 11 and 16.
Max Defensive Ball Curl as soon as possible and after W is max-ed, alternate between Q and E.

Jungle routine:
Rammus will start from Blue buff golems, and work his way down to Red buff. Ask your teammates to cover you at blue from possible gank and mid lane champion to pull golem (just to hit the golem in order for you to gain a few extra seconds and some damage before the golem starts focusing you).
At Blue, you will Smite the big golem that has the buff and use Defensive Ball Curl, while autoattack and use a hp potion.
Next kill the wolves and pop a hp potion if you need one. Then you will kill the Wraiths, starting with the big one.
It's Red buff time. By now you should have Smite available again, after you used it on Blue golem. Drink some "medicine" and go in for the kill.
Kill the last golems standing, the ones near bottom lane. Then go back to wraiths and wolves, blue buff, red buff and so on. Always be with your eyes fixed on possible ganks (priority will have your solo teammate, usually on top lane). If you see an enemy very offensive and pushing the lane close to your team's tower, alert your team that you are coming and gank him. If you are level 5 use Powerball(Q) to stun and slow him (but avoid the creeps), then Taunt (E) + Defensive Ball Curl (W). If your teammate is focused, this should be an easy kill. You can switch the order, starting with E+W, then use Q when he tries to run. The second option works better when you have boots and you can catch up your enemy. Otherwise, use the first combo.

Early game:
Your starting items should be Cloth Armor and 5 hp potions.
Mid and Late Game:
Rammus is a tank that works very good with stacking armor because his passive skill converts 25% of his armor to attack damage.
My advice is to get Boots of Swiftness first item, because you are no good if you can't catch up with your opponents. Then you should go for Aegis of the Legion. This item will help also your teammates, giving them 12 armor, 15 magic resist and 8 attack damage. Build Sunfire Cap next to ensure that no enemy will have the guts to stand and fight Rammus from melee range (and for those who dare I say rest in peace).
Next aim the mighty Frozen Heart. Buy Glacial shroud first to gain that cooldown reduction faster.
Tired of that Tryndamere and his lame crits? Go for Thormail and no melee carry will fight you and live to tell the story.
As an optional item, if the enemy team does more magic damage than AD, you can build Force of Nature. This item can be switched with Thormail in the build order if you feel you need more magic resist and HP regen.

Remember, you are Rammus in nobody stands in your way. Initiate the fight for your team using Poweball. In 5v5 fights, after you get to them, taunt their AD carry and pop your ulti for maximum damage. Your team should jump in and finish them before they know it. Also pay attention to your teammates and protect them. You have Q and E to disable anyone who focuses your AP carry or AD carry.
Until next time play LoL and be GodLike !
